The importance of masks and antiviral disinfectants are more important than ever since the introduction of new government regulations Which can be read here
The Professional Squash Association took a lead in precautionary measures prior to the new regulations and asked us to help support the Manchester Open, the first professional event on the circuit since lockdown. An event also shown on SquashTV and Eurosport.
Our long-lasting disinfectant Steri-Wipe® and sprays were used on their registration/reception desk, in hotel receptions, in the warm-up and gym areas, and on TV equipment. In addition, all players and staff wore the LiquidNano™ coated face masks. This included top-ranking players worldwide, including Ali Farag who kept his 2nd place ranking, Paul Coll also kept his ranking in 5th place, however, Hania El Hammy had a great competition and moved up two spots from 6th and now sits 4th in the world ranking.
Tim Garner, Event Director:
‘As government restrictions were lifted, we wasted no time in exploring the viability of hosting the Manchester Open, and getting our beloved PSA Tour back up and running! We were thrilled to know that many of the world’s best players were willing to support the event, and so we pushed forward with the planning.
Our biggest priority for the event was to ensure all of the staff and players were protected and safe, both on and off the court. We decided to partner with Mutual Media and LiquidNano™, who provided their nano-tech coated Facemasks and long-term disinfectant Steri-Wipe®. Each player received their Facemask at registration to use throughout the event, and our cleaning team used the Steri-Wipe® across all key areas to protect all hard surfaces against recontamination for up to 7 days. We all felt much safer knowing this and I believe it really helped the competition to be a success.’
